Deprive Me Not

Deprive me not of my very high view of God; for in my recognizing God as Sovereign over all things, all circumstances in my life, and that of the whole world, I find rest.

It is good for me to know that with all the craziness, instability, and seeming futility that’s going on, he is still in control. I’ve known this for sometime. When I used to compete for promotional opportunities in the workforce, I knew that ultimately it was up to God.

What has led me to believe that? Well besides the grace of God, there are many scriptures that point to his Sovereignty.

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. Psalm 75:6,7 KJV

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whitersover he will. Proverbs 21:1 KJV

So although I may initially be very disappointed that things don’t go the way I’d like, I rest in knowing that it is because God did not ordain it to be. Yes, I submit to not my will but that his will is best.

I have been in hard circumstances, but even then I have learned, and am ever learning to submit to him as the keeper of my soul as stated by the Apostle Peter.

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. I Peter 4:19

I have had to lean heavily on that particular scripture reminding myself that God sees what is going on with me, and that he will take care of me. The rescues don’t usually happen the way I envisioned, but God has always brought me through.

So, deprive me not of knowing God as the Sovereign one.

    1. Amen Keith. Unfortunately I believe most of our churches are not recognizing the Sovereignty of God and are more focused on what the God that we’ve conjured up can do for us. We’ve invented a “genie” god. Our Creator God will be worshipped in Spirit and in Truth.
